Default new e-mail icon not disappearing

Please Login to Remove!

I have three e-mail accounts in my Bold. I currently don't have any new unread e-mails in any of them, and the little yellow envelope icon at the top of the home screen says I have 3. Also, there's one e-mail account's icon on the home screen that has the red "flower" thing, and nothing new.
I've pulled the batter twice, erased every message, re-sent service books, nothing happens.
I had to turn off the red light LED because it kept flashing, even though there are no new messages.

Any other ideas?

TIA!

Have you checked in the folders for your respective e-mail addreses? Sometimes an unread e-mail will "hide" in one of them.

check in the messages folder where it combines all messages. If there isn't anything there or in the other email folders, try reinstalling the os.

This happened to me once before on my device, which is on a BES. I couldn't figure it out either. I had no choice but to backup, security wipe and restore. A bit extreme, I know, but it fixed it.

Have you tried switching to a different theme?

Sometimes an email can get inadvertently saved in your Saved Messages as an unread email. Go into your email and click View Saved Messages in the menu.

Thanks everyone for all the advice. Did all the checking and re-checking every folder. No hidden messages, nothing.
So, I just pulled the battery out once more, left the device battery-less all night, and this morning I put it back on, turned the phone on, and the icon had disappeared.
These phones are temperamental.

Hi,

I had the same problem. There is one message icon on your Blackberry that is hidden, I think it gathers up all your messages.

It gathers your e-mails as well as your SMS/MMS, voicemail indication and missed calls.

What you have to do is, get on your home screen, check show all. Look for an icon that looks like an envelope. Open it, scroll down the list and you will see unopened items clear them and you should be all set.

Not if you want that icon to show up all the time, select it, but don't click and then press the berrys button, next make sure Hide is not check.

Good luck.

Let me know if this helps.

Most likely a saved message. If you "save" (by select Save from the menu when a message is highlighted in a messages folder) a message before you read it, it gets saved to "Save Items". If you then delete the item in the message folder, the new message indicator stays, and the unread message count does not change, because the item still remains unread in the saved items folder even though you deleted it from the messages folder.

The "fix" is simple. Make sure you set to show all icons on the home screen. Find the "Saved Messages" icon. Click on it. See the message. Delete it.

There you go.

He cannot find the unread message. If he cannot find that, it means it's not showing in a folder. If it's not in a folder, marking prior read does NOTHING.

I'm not sure what you you're thinking...
