Default Help With BB Mesage Placement

Please Login to Remove!

Hey everyone.

I need help with my Blackberry I got the other day and figured I'd come to the smart people.

All of my emails, texts (sents and received), missed calls and voicemails all go to the messages area instead of their specific locations. When I got the phone it took me 20 minutes to figure out how to move the icons for my contact list, messages, aol, call log and browser to my home screen... now I am baffeled by this. Other than missing a lot of stuff because in the course of an hour my messages says 50-80, it's a pretty damn useful phone. I hope you can change that.

Thanks a lot everyone.

Welcome to the BBF.

Move your SMS to its own folder (Messages > Options > General Options > Email and SMS Inbox = Separate.

Call logging: Press the green dial key > Menu > Options > Call Logging = None.

Your personal email will remain in the main messages list where it is intended to go, as well as the browser messages.

Go into the Phone log and press Menu>Options>Call logging> NONE

Go into the message folder and press menu>Options>General Options>SMS and Email inboxes = SEPARATE

Good Luck!

You guys are awesome. I appreciate it big time! Now everything is much more manageable and not a flood of events.

Now I also understand a bit more of how to operate the phone and adjust the settings.

Thanks a lot, and I will be sticking around here for future learning.

Is there anything else I should tweak out of the box? I am pretty dissappointed I couldn't find ESPN MVP app, maybe not compatable.

Thanks again.

I would say... update your profile here to indicate the correct device and carrier.

Also, get Stinsonddogs Tips, for the Curve. See the link below.

Here's a little "blackberry 101 video" for your curve. A few minutes invested now may save you quite a few minutes in the future, and help you to better understand and utilize the capabilities of your new SmartPhone.

Thanks guys, I will update my profile now. I thought I put in my carrier when I was signing up. (Verizon)I skipped everything else for the time being but I know that is important. (Paperweight mode commercial, haha.)

Anyways, I did what the first couple replies said. I still am getting emails in the messages folder (folders aren't the right names for those icons is it?) but I don't get the emails in "SMS and MMS". So I guess I am just going to replace 'messages' with 'SMS and MMS' since I use aol email and thats all I am trying to seperate anyways.

Thanks for the links guys. 110% appreciated!

Ed

You personal email will always go to to your main messages folder, that is where they are intended.

Think of this this way... BlackBerrys were initially, and still are, built primarily as an email device. Email comes first, before SMS text. So, what goes to your messages folder?

Email.

Very good point and well taken. I guess I am just use to the firmware of normal phones. That and I also have AOL and have the AOL icon right there for me. For someone who uses a web based email service then your right, the BB is more appriopriately designed.

Either way swapping SMS and Messages still basically acheives what I wanted to do because I have AOL mail right? All the more reason to give BB the thumbs up. Still wish***** I could find ESPN MVP though.

Thanks for all of your help JSanders, I appreciate it.

Some users will hide the email-specific folder (I do). It does basically duplicate the main folder.

I am not familiar with the ESPN MVP... but there are several good sports/scores/update apps, I thought ESPN had one for the BlackBerry.
