Question Question regarding JavaScript?

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Pearl 8130 thru Verizion, but assume the settings are the same for all BB's.

There is a particular website I often need to visit the requires JavaScript to be enabled. The message I get is as follows:

This link requires JavaScript to be enabled. Would you like to enable javascript? Yes or No

I select yes and it work well. Because of this I went to Options and enabled Javascript, when I did this a message pops up stating:

JavaScript: An error occurred while executing a script. OK

I click OK it it seems to work as it should. I have two questions.

1. Is there a setting that will avoid both popups while allowing the link to run correctly?

2. Regarding question 1, since JavaScript slows the loading of web pages when enabled, can I setup my BB to only enable JavaScript only for a particluar website?

First of all, the quality of JavaScript on the average web page, even from sites that should be able to do better, is appalling. Start the JavaScript console on your PC browser once just to see how bad.

Second, RIM is fairly choosy about which parts of the JavaScript implementation they support. There are a lot of features in JavaScript that impact negatively on security. So, not all JavaScript used in the wild is supported on Blackberries, and the Blackberry browser seems to report all JavaScript errors.

So, the short answer is no, you can't get rid of the error dialog, though I'm willing to be corrected if they have introduced that option recently.
