Hi

I usually sync BB to Outlook..

But i thought i would try two way, it seems slower and too many conflicts, would this be on just the 1st time or even after?

Which methods do you all use and which do you reccomend?

I use BES, so my setup is different. However, if I were syncing locally to Outlook I would definitely use two-way sync instead of pushing all data from the BlackBerry to Outlook.

The first sync will be slow because a baseline has to be established so that there is a frame of reference for changed data in future syncs. As for the conflicts... not sure what to tell you. I would do one last sync pushing all data from the BlackBerry to Outlook, and then immediately start a two-way sync (and do this without editing data on either the BlackBerry or Outlook for this first two-way sync).

From that point forward, you should only do two-way syncs.

It has finished its first sync, took 30 minutes however i think it should move quicker there was alot of entries.

Just verify that the data on your phone is in Outlook. Then, just to be sure it is all working, you might want to enter some new data in Outlook and initiate a sync. Once you are sure everything is moving back and forth, you should be good to go.

If you ever get a warning about a conflict, just read the message carefully and review the proposed changes before committing to anything. That way you don't discover when it's too late that the data you really need just got deleted by accident.

If you've never done a two-way sync before, you might want to go thorugh the contacts and calendar in Outlook after you finish the first sync to see if you need to clean anything up (dupes for example). After you clean it up, then sync again and after this, things should stay pretty clean. I still scroll through my Outlook contacts a couple times a year to be sure things stay clean.

one thing i do about once a week is run a pst out of outlook of my cal and contacts and keep the last few pst's. I had a huge problem after I got my bold and it moved 6 months worth of calendar entries to the bold and deleted them off of outlook. so for a few minutes worth of time run the pst and save a huge headach.

Good suggestion mudwookie. I make regular pst backups of my calendar and contacts but I guess I've been doing it so long (way before I ever got a BB) that I forget to remind people they can do that. It's certainly a good idea to do a backup of your contacts and calendars by creating a pst file before any major event such as synching a phone that hasn't been synced before or one where you suspect there may be errors.

I would probably survive if I had my BB taken away. I'd be unhappy but I'd survive. But if I lost my entire Outlook calendar and contacts, not sure I would.
