Default Wha is browser always active?

Please Login to Remove!

Why when I press and hold my BB button does browser and BB messenger always appear as active? Is it just "icons" put there by the task switcher or are they really running and draining power?

It just icons. BlackBerry messenger and the browser are 2 of the apps that never go away when you hit the menu button.

Make sure you select "Close" on the menu when you have finished using them. That shoudl shut them down.

OK...so which is it? Icons or apps always running?

I've notice this too. And yes, I always close every app from its menu but that change this. Icons still appear in task switcher.

Wirelessly posted (8820)

I believe they are running, in the same sense the phone and messages apps are always running. How is the browser going to receive a browser push if it is closed? How is BBM going to receive a ping, an add request, or a new message if it is shut down? These are the core native apps that are never really off.

I agree with Ira. The bottom line for you is you will always see those apps (or icons) as "running" when you press and hold the BB key, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
