Default Second Gen Storm!!!

Please Login to Remove!

I am excited, read on! Paraphrased from Crackberry:

On Monday RIM's Co-CEO Jim Balsillie made the news "official" during an interview with Reuters. Balsillie said that sales of the Storm are remaining strong, and with the next generation Storm RIM hopes to continue to stay strong in the consumer market. No specs, release date or any other news came along with the announcement, however a second-gen Storm is going to be a reality.

From the Dutch site Tweakers, comes official word via Alain Segond von Banchet, a Channel Sales Manager for RIM, that RIM's next touchscreen (called Storm 2 for now but that's not the official name as of yet) could/should launch in late 2009 / early 2010 and will "offer among other things a new manner to input text". "Among other things" hopefully means WiFi and a 5 megapixel camera as was rumored.

This device won't be a Vodafone/Verizon exclusive either, as Segond von Banchet said it'll be coming to KPN.

This all has been going around the net for quite a while. Really nothing new beyond what we knew well over 10 days ago. Call me when it is available.

What we are going to do is force you to use a Storm with .75 on it, AND you will be prevented from using the QuickPull app. LOL!

That should be sufficient punishment to atone for your sins. <g>

I wasn't looking for them, excitement got the best of me.

However, reverting to .75 for atonement is absolutely cruel and unusual punishment!

He probably got it confused with the Niagara, or whatever they are calling it now. That should be due out soon for Verizon.

i think another Storm isnt the answer to the current issue we're having*. When they utilize the full potential of this device than I'll think about upgrading but for now i've been through to much to just throw this one away.

*i know we're not having an "issue" but I think something should've been done a while ago- the rest of the storm community isn't on here or crackberry and upgrades every time there's an update. Although, I really like the new OSes that are being released and they're only getting better.

ummmm...no, preproduction hasn't even been started...meaning it hasn't made its way off of the line yet, so that's unlikely...
yea prolly got it confused...but this phone seems lame, i mean come on a physical keyboard...that's like one of those weak ol' LG phones or the HTC on t-mo...
if I want a new gen phone I don't want a bulky POS, I want the STORM with better functionale...
this phone doesn't make sense...RIM is just going retrograde...and I've posted this before, but I'll reiterate...it just frustrates me

I think it's time we both had a beer. I've got some George Killian Irish Red chillin' in the fridge. Want one?

I was trying to be sarcastic since Verizon has been jerking us around telling us it would be "any day". It's all pie in the sky. As far as I am concerned, Verizon has dropped the ball on updates.

Not to take a side. But it's RIM who controls the Niagara release. Not Verizon.
