Hey, I have a Blackberry Bold 9000 ann I am pretty new to it. I am having an error coming up saying "Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException". Its very annoying and now that I tried to backup my phone its telling me "Error Backing up Database". I have tried taking out the battery and doing it over and it did not work. I also tried putting back all of the default settings and then backingup again and it also did not work.

I have tried everything and its not workin. Can someone please help me?????

The message is also coming up when I go to my contacts and select Activity Log and only my missed calls are saving in the call log whereas the dialed and received are not registering, therefore, I lost a number that was very important .

1) I think that bb are great phones but everything is complicated and u wont understand it in one day. I just wanted to know if u agrred or not.

2) How would I know which applicaition I receive the error?

3) Yes I have tried taking out the battery.

1. I think BlackBerry devices are some of the easiest devices to use.

2. Does the error occur when you try to do a specific operation (i.e., open a message)?

What version of OS are you running? (Options > About)

Well the message comes up when I try to look at my contact's Activity Log and now my call log is not storing received and dialed calls only missed calls.

OS: v4.6.0.162

Also when its backingup and it gets to back up the key store options the Error back up database message is coming up

I suggest doing an advanced backup, skip the key store and call logs, and upgrade to the latest OS listed in the sticky at the top of the 9000 section.

They are other things that are stopping the backup so when I get a list with those things I would let u know a.s.a.p

Unfortunately, I do not use hotmail. I only use AIM and Skype, and those only rarely.

Let's keep it here for now, and hopefully when we find the resolution, it will help others later when they search for the same error.

i am getting the same error but these replies do not help at all, were you able to find a fix for it?

The same questions apply to you as asked to OP:

1. What OS version are you running?
2. In what application do you receive this error?
3. Have you pulled the battery?

There is something on the BB triggering the error, but as with many technological things, the answer is rarely simple and could be caused by more than one factor.
