Default Best Internet Radio for T-Mobile

Please Login to Remove!

Now that Pandora came out, we're left out. I have an 8900, best I found is Slacker Mobile.

Please fix your profile. It depends more on the device than the carrier. Check out iheartradio

Wirelessly posted (supercalifragilisticexpialidoc)

Yes iheartradio by far is the best I've tried. FREE and has hundreds of stations to choose from.

I'm a fan of Moodio.

Edit: I like Moodio because it's the first free app I came across that let me add all my favorite local radio stations to my options list. Also, it's never once been unavailable.

I have used Moodio, and like it. Just added Slacker recently, and am still playing around with it, but so far so good. I would recommend either.

My guess is that there will be a dozen stations to choose very soon. My issue with them is battery power

If you want radio and podcasts (streamed or downloaded) try Berrytunes...not free (about $19 w/discount), but very solid and reliable.

I use two freebies; Flycast and moodio.fm. I like moodio.fm because it actually plays stations in my local market (e.g. news, talk, sports, etc.).

Second that.
I've just about tried all (free & pay), and Moodio is hands up the best (for me at least). I love the fact that I can also get police/fire scanner feeds as well.

Doesn't Pandora support the 8900?

It does. I have it, it pulled in my stations from my login and the sound quality is good and heard no skips.

Default VirtualRadio

I've been trying some internet radio programs for my Curve 8320 as possible, during the past week. Preliminary report:

iheartradio -- not available for T-mobile.

pandora -- works well for music. News and talk not supported, which is of course not what Pandora's all about.

FlyCast -- very promising, but I found a lot of stations wouldn't play. Over Edge, the buffering time was very lengthy. I couldn't get the CNN hourly updates to play, but I could get the Bill Maher episodes, which was pretty cool.

VirtualRadio -- (From wap.getjar.com) works pretty well, even on Edge. The selection of stations is huge, and it includes non-US stations, which is something I like. The interface, however, isn't adapted for the Blackberry. There's no ready way to back up out of menus; the "back" and "exit" and "options" choices are on the screen, but you can't scroll to them or use them in any other way that I've found yet. And you can't bookmark a station, which can be annoying when you have this many stations to get lost in.

I'd like to hear others' experiences with FlyCast and VirtualRadio--especially if anyone has found a way to get VirtualRadio's interface to work right.

iheartradio works on tmobile and should work on your BB. My husband got it working straight from the download on his 8320 and on his 8120 and that's who we have. I also have it working on my 8220 flip.

iHeartRadio is Good based on the quantity of ClearChannel stations supported/available. I finally get to listen to WMMS (...and punt!) while on the road.

Pandora is Excellent (if supported) due to the Music Genome and the index of music. They even accept directly submitted music for inclusion, so the indy music is fresh and always growing. Battery life running Pandora is better than most of the other apps.

Slacker is Good. The UI is very good, the caching (if you can get it to work) is a great feature. The music index is sub-par. An index based primarily on Genre, title, album artist and year, is not going to cut it. Perhaps they can tell me why I continue to get Christmas music on my Kings of Leon station!

Nobex Radio Companion is Good. The station list is average, but the ability to send the song info and view lyrics (newest version) is something other apps lack.

Moodio.fm is Poor. The UI (or lack of), battery life, and the simple act of adding stations is old news and leaves a lot to be desired. Now that the other apps mentioned above are available, this app needs an overhaul.

This is just my opinion and YMMV.

Default moodio.fm is the one

I have to disagree about the opinion of moodio.fm I like moodio and never have it fail on me yet.. can put almost any station on it I want. Flycast is a close second. Never had any problem with the UI of Flycast.

I am unable to download it to my 8320. I always get the message that it's not available for my device. I haven't tried loading it via the Device Manager.

Pandora is working very well, though, and Virtual Radio is working well enough to continue using.

How did you get it downloaded on your 8320?

If you try to download it OTA it's also saying my 8320 won't work (T-Mobile).
"Sorry, your Blackberry does not support iheartradio at this time."

In my limited experience, less than a month with this 8320:
Moodio worked once and now it just gives me errors when the media player comes up and that's if I can even get the page to load. The site is very slow, even on my corporate network on this computer, using my home Wi-Fi (12mbps down and 2mbps up) and using EDGE. I gave up on it.
I cannot figure out Slacker. I was just hoping to find a local radio station but it appears this is only for streaming a certain genre of music as opposed to getting local stations OTA.

Very very informative!!!

I liked Pandora as well. Got it cause my GF uses it on her laptop. Told her about it and she loaded it on her 8310. It works great, very fast and quality is amazing. Hard to believe its streaming on EDGE. No skipping except maybe the first night we got it.
