(a) Where (which folder on PC) should OS file is to be downloaded and installed? Does it make any difference which folder?
(b) When clicked on "Loader.exe", how does the PC know which folder is the OS installed? Does it ask for the folder?

Ans to (a) It does not really matter where you download and store the installable file which is basically the .exe. Whenever you install the OS, it is always does at a fixed location.. users are not presented with a choice of a different location. The fixed location is C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\....
Ans to (b) Since the device software is always installed in a fixed location, Loader.exe knows exactly where to find the updated device software.
Does that help?
