Did you happen to try going to
Options | Status | then on the keyboard, type "test" - that will get you to the built-in hardware diagnostics... run the GPS test. That will tell you if your hardware is working fine.

Strange as it is, I still can't lock onto a Satillite so I went to the Alltel dealer and he downloaded Google Maps and the GPS was working he tried it on BB Maps and again no luck. He has no clue why.

I have similar issue with one of my 8900 (I have two). The phone keeps on searching for Satellite and never gets it done.

Thanks.
I get no conclusive results. It says "Timed out while waiting for GPS location..." but never finding a satellite!
Maybe I should attach the phone to a satellite?...
It sucks because my other 8900's GPS works flawlessly from the get-go.

Take a look at this forum. I wonder if it's related and may help you...

Head to a familiar "crackberry".com website and do a search for Alltel 4.5.0.127 breaks BB Maps GPS on Curve 8330

I think this may help you. There are a few posts there about this same kind of issue.

If that's all it says then it's not working.

I had issues at home starting up GPS programs.

Then I drove outside and it found it quick. Make sure you're outside...
