Post Power turn off issue

After I turn off my Storm, a strange thing happens: if I insert it into the holster I notice that the screen light comes on. Is this normal ? Will it receive calls ? Is there a way to prevent this and have it switched off for good ?
Thanks.

PS No automatic switch on-off is enabled

FWIW - When I travel, I notice the same thing, except the phone boots up - not just a screen light. I turn off the phone, place in holster and 1/2 of the time it is on when I land...
