Default Trapcall questions...

Please Login to Remove!

i heard about this a few days ago, it's a service provided by a company called TelTech systems.

TelTech Systems Introduces TrapCall to Unmask Blocked Caller ID - MSNBC Wire Services - msnbc.com

if you register your number and enter something on your phone, it re-routes 'unknown' and 'restricted' numbers to their systems, finds out what the origin is, and re-routes it back to your phone with the caller id.

supposedly, the caller hears ringing during the process and is unaware.

i always wanted to have a feature like this because tmo does not block unknown numbers that call my phone, and i don't like picking up, so i let it ring to voicemail.

i want to try this, but i'm a bit cautious on what would happen if i provided teltech with my phone number. i'd want to be sure they don't use it for marketing, and also if any carriers out there are adopting this service for customers ?

if anyone has tried it, or has more info, would u please share ?

I was going to try it, but the line about how it doesn't work on all blocked numbers made me thing it wouldn't be of much use. I'm also waiting to hear some real world results, but I don't want to get involved for the exact same concerns you mentioned.

It has been using this about 4 days now for me. So far no issues. I'll pass on any news if anything changes.

i'm still pretty skeptical about something like this....

the way i see it, if it's a great feature, the carriers will offer it to their customers.

besides, the system still puts the call thru to voicemail, only added value is that it provides you with their number. in retrospect, i was looking for a service where the carrier would allow me to reject unknown numbers. forcing the caller to call from a line who's number will appear on my phone.

only downside with this is how do international callers get thru (i.e., family) ?

Wirelessly posted (Bold 9000)

Most carriers offer a feature to block unknown numbers on landlines. I don't see why the can't do the same for cells.

I don't think that's exactly how it works. When the call comes in, you click "Reject" and it forwards to them, then comes back immediately, showing you their number.

THEN, if you press "Reject" again, then it goes to your voicemail.

I believe. They don't support Verizon yet, so I can't try it out myself.

Yes - your explanation is how I understand and have experienced it's functionality.
