BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.174 (EastAsia)
Contains English, from IndoSat
This will load on any carrier's 8820 model

Package Version: 4.5.0.174
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.124
* Software Platform: 2.7.0.92
* File name: 8820EastAsia_PBr4.5.0_rel174_PL2.7.0.92_A4.5.0.124 _Indosat.exe
* File size: 87.96MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download Link: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...B53786A2C5FA09

Instructions for installing on ANY 8820 (regardless of carrier)

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Prev. version of OS:

It's works regardless of your location. But it includes asian group of languages instead of european.

Just got an unlocked Orange and want to be able to switch on ATT from the ATT bold to the orange. Swapped SIM and basic work. Will this OS load ok on the unlocked Orange 8820?

also operator name has changed from the one which used to be correct to an old name of the network (the network used to be called voxtel but couple of years ago it was bought by orange).

on all previous versions i would have the correct name of gsm operator (orange)
with this update the name changed to voxtel

I installed an update today and I am missing icons for two apps. I looked on the app list and they're installed. I dunno how to make them show. I tried "show all", but they weren't there either.

Is there a new folder mixed in with your apps? Like a programs folder or something? Your apps may have been put in one of those new folders.

I hear that - I'm getting an 8820 later in the week and would like to have some new OS lovin' waiting for it.

I've been rocking an 8800 for the last 2 years, and that thing has seen more OS upgrades than I can remember.

If memory serves me, though, .124 was a pretty solid build on the 8800. I just downgraded from .140 to .132 because the battery life seemed a little sketchy. That may have been another issue, though, and not OS related.

I've been messing around with creating a hybrid OS, a la Sith Apprentice's work on the Storm.

So far, the best radio performance I've seen is with 4.5.0.108. I'm grafting all of these into (onto?) 4.5.0.124.

Does anyone else have any feedback? Is the radio performance on your device stellar? Is it crap? Which carriers and which OS versions?

4.5.0.139 is available for T-Mobile customers - still looking for a direct link and will post a new thread once I find one...
