Angry No slot or hole for neck lanyard. Suggestions?

Please Login to Remove!

My new BlackBerry Curve 8320 from T-Mobile has no slot or hole through which to thread a lanyard or a retractor-reel string. Stupid! Invitation to drop or lose Blackberry. Old Blackberries had a slot for this. What have others owners done? Don't want to use a carrying case, I want the phone itself attached to my BODY. Is there someplace on the BOTTOM of the case where I can safely drill two holes, or must I epoxy on a loop of some kind? Does anyone know the inside of a BlackBerry Curve well enough to recommend a safe drill-hole spot?

You might be able to attach something to the siderails of the phone if they are similar to the siderails on the 8830. They are held in place by screws in the battery compartment and then a combination of snap-fittings and double-sided tape. If you are willing to drill, you could probably provide a "notch" on both edges of one of the siderails to allow the lanyard attachment.

I would avoid drilling at the bottom, as that is where the microphone is. I'm looking at my own 8320 right now, and there is no place that I could see where I could safely say you could drill.

If you were interested in glueing some sort of lanyard attacment though, the top and side rails (beneath or bewteen the various side buttons) would likely work.

Best bet however wouyld be to purchase an inexpensive cover with a clip that could attach to a neck lanyard.

Don't drill the bottom, under the U shaped bottom cover is the mic and the antenna. I wouldn't suggest the side rails or the battery cover either - they would pull off too easy IMO.

Best suggestion I can think of is to drill two small holes close to the speakerphone "outlets" on the top of the phone that you can loop a lanyard through.

There's a couple mm of space in there to work with. You'll need a T5 screwdriver to open the phone and a T6 screwdriver to remove the main board from the internal support to be able to drill safely.

Some poor images of the area I'm talking about :

Wirelessly posted

What about attaching the stock holster to something? Just my 2 cents...
