Default 4.5 worse reception than 4.2?

Please Login to Remove!

I have 8320 with T-mo. My wife has Samsung t819. When I was with OS 4.2, the reception of my 8320 was slightly worse than that of t819.

However, with 4.5.102, I had solid SOS all the time at a Home Depot near my place whereas t819 could make call with little problem. I did not want to downgrade all the way to 4.2. So I downgrade to 4.5.81, but not much improvement, I guess.

It seems Blackberry has (slightly) worse reception than Samsung or Moto, but it also seems that the reception is dependent on OS. Any observations?

Edit:

I was with 4.5.102, not 4.5.110.

My reception has been actually better with 4.5 (specifically with .110, there were a few 4.5 duds, but nothing to do with reception)

What I found with 4.5 is that it is (very) slow to regain the signal once it loses the signal; that is, once the signal is lost, 4.5 tends to remain at that state longer than 4.2.

For example, my 8320 with 4.2 was able to regain the signal within a few seconds at the sample place (i.e., I did not move). With 4.5, today, my berry lost signal and it couldn't regain the signal unless I moved to a different place.

(Anyway, the reception of both versions is worse than Samsung based on my observation.)

Have you, xyrcncp, tested your berry in fringe areas where your berry may lose the signal?

Oops. I was with 4.5.102, not 4.5.110. By bad; 4.5.110 may have better reception than 4.5.102.

I updated to .124 last night and tested today. No improvement; once the berry goes to SOS, it takes forever to come out. I probably have to revert back to 4.2.
