BB 7750, synch work BES and home POP3 accounts?

The good news--I have work email (BES) working flawlessly, and home email (POP3 via Verizon Wireless) working super too. Love seeing all email in one box. Outlook 2003 at home and at work. All good.
The bad news--terrified to synch because don't understand how BB synch will keep mail/contacts separated--home at home and work at work. Fine to mix calendar. Plus, can I synch in both places, ie home and work? Should I synch home mail at home and let BES handle work synch for me?
Using multiple email accounts seems to be beyond average users, so I can't get advice from Verizon or BES support.
Happy to read post if it's here, but search didn't reveal one. Thanks in advance for your help and advice.
