Default Micro SDHC Question

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone,
Total newbie here...dooohhhhh!!
I just purchased an 8G Sandisk Micro SDHC card for my Curve 8330, but when I attempted to install it, the media card cover would not slide and lock back into place. After several gentle attempts, I then 'forced' the cover down and it did partially close/lock. I was able to re-insert my battery and cover okay. When I turned the phone back on, it did recognize the card but when I went to format the card, the BB just locked up and would not format. I had to remove the battery to reset the phone. Has anyone encountered this problem with their card install?
Cheers,
Bill

The 8GB is the same exact size as any other micro SD, you inserted it wrong.

Make sure you are inserting it between the small tabs...

Default Thanks, tried that...any other suggestions

Hey,
Thanks for the advice, but I have tried my best to make it fit within the tabs. When the card holder is upright, the card slides in fine, but as soon as I fold it down, one side does not slide down over the card so that it would slide into the lock position. I feel like a goof (as I am somewhat technically savvy), but I'll be darned if this thing just won't fit in. I've worked on it for almost an hour (I do have a life.....honestly ), but I can't get it to fit at all. I can still insert the battery over top and seal the unit, and it recognizes that there is a media card inserted when I power up, but when I go into Options/Media Card/Format Card, and hit OK, the phone just freezes up......any thoughts????????

What type and size Media Card can I use in my device? - BlackBerryFAQ

Are you doing it as described here?

Quote:
Installation Instructions:

Turn off your BlackBerry smartphone.
Press the battery cover release button and slide off the battery cover.
Remove the battery.
Slide the media card holder door toward its hinges to unlock it.
Open the media card holder door.
Place the media card into the slots in the media card holder door so that the metal contacts on the media card align with the metal contacts on your BlackBerry smartphone when the media card holder door is closed.
Close the media card holder door.
Slide the media card holder door away from its hinges to lock it.

The card fits fine now, and the BB shows that a media card has been inserted and should be formatted. However, when I go to Options/Media Card/Format Card/OK, the BB just freezes up. I've tried this with Mass Storage On and Off, but doesn't make any difference....Thoughts?

I would try formatting the card on your PC.

Don't you need 4.5 to use bigger than a 4 gig? I could be wrong...and I don't have time to look.
