Default Key light question

Please Login to Remove!

Does anyone know how and when the BB decides to turn the backlight on the keypad? Is it based on the surrounding light or time of day? I have the 8310 on AT&T with the new upgrade to 4.5. My setting is not to auto dim the backlight, but it seems my keyboard doesn't always light up- so is it the time of day or ambient light? or am i just cazy!!

Under Options/ Screen/Keyboard have you tried changes the backlight time out to more time, and make sure the auto dim backlight is set to off. Also check the backlight brightness level.

Thanks, i guess i didnt explain it right..sorry about that! Im refering to the backlight being on while i type or use the trackball. I have it set to 10 seconds, auto dim off and 100% brightness.

THe keypad doesn't light up all the time, and i haven't paid enough attention to see if its a time of day or light issue. Is this preset?

I have the same problem with my 8320, I have OS 4.5 and tested all options but the backlight of the keyboard only turns on when I reset the BB, then turn off

It's based on ambient light and the sensor is next to the flashing LED. With the keyboard lights off put your finger over the LED and the keyboard/trackball should light up.

Yes is true, is based on ambient light, but I think this is a defective light sensor
