Default I set my profile to Vibration.....

Please Login to Remove!

...and still makes all kinds of bleeps/blips/rings. Help please, as my workplace will not allow us to have the ringers going off. I need this thing to be silent, yet still alert me. Is anybody else experiencing this?

Whatever changes you made to any settings are carried forward to all profiles. Nobody knows why but that is just the way it is.

Hmmm. Do you think they will fix that, or am I doing something wrong? I figured the main profiles should over-rule everything, just like my 8800

Ok wait, is anybody else experiencing this? I set my phone to the vibrate profile and it still makes noise.

OK add this to the list of things that should be remedied in the next update...

Maybe some of you try to custom the ring/vibrate setting. All you have to do is nothing at all. Mine works great. Io\ did not have to customized anything. Before when I wanted to set a ringtone to a specific contact, I would change the setting. That went wrong because If I had the settings on silent or vibrate, the phone would still ring. However, if I were to just change the ringtone and leave everything else to 'active profile', works like a charm. Basically leave the settings to 'active profile' and you will get what you want.

Do you have the weatherbug for blackberry storm beta installed? ... If so, set it to no alerts.

If you have a "Custom Ring Tone/Alert" set for a conact, and put the phone in the built-in Vibrate profile, it will play the custom tone, instead of just vibrating.

If you put the phone in silent mode, it stays silent.

This happens in both the Leaked v4.7.0.75 and the Verizon released v4.7.0.75

This is a identified issue. Its been fed back to RIM.

Some have been successful creating their own "Vibrate" profile, but I've read that some have not. Me, I haven't taken the time yet to do it.

Oh, and I've read this also happens with the v4.7.0.76 that Bell had released. EDIT: Then again, I've also read it IS fixed in the Bell v4.7.0.76. So I'm not sure what to say about the .76 code /EDIT

Some info that would be interesting...

1. Is this your first blackberry? i.e. is it new, fresh out of the box, and you didn't bring data/settings across from an older BB?

or...
2. Did you switch from an older BB to the Storm? If so, did you backup your data/settings from the older blackberry, and restore them to the Storm?

I have set my profile to Quiet and my LED to on. It will flash red when I receive any messages but will not make a peep otherwise.

basically, just remove all your custom ring tones for your individual contacts, then you can use the default profiles, otherwise, if you have a loud ring tone set for a particular contact, it will override the profile setting

I'm hoping they fix this ASAP, hopefully they will allow us to modify the preset profiles as well when they release the fix

I hope for the same thing. its frustrating to see that this is going on. Such a basic feature.. something that's been perfected in each previously released device. Although I have a great trust in this company, its slowly withering away.

Edit: But then again... it is their first version of this new surepress phone. So... i guess that makes it all better..
