This just appeared a couple of weeks ago out of nowhere. The phone was not dropped, wet, or anything. Thought I would put up some pics for someone to help me out. I'm hoping to jump on the Bold Bandwagon here in a few weeks anyway, but it'd be nice to know what the deal is.

When looking at it directly, you can barely tell it is there. Words and images still show up behind it so it's not a matter of dead pixels. The more you tilt the phone the darker it gets. Size seems to be circular with a diameter of about 1/4" maybe closer to 1/8". Here are some large pics.

I've got a similar spot on my screen, although not quite as dark. I believe it happened when I had the phone in my pocket and I ran into the corner of a table. I don't think there's a whole lot you can do about it. Mine's been there for about six months, and it hasn't gotten worse. It bothered me at first, but I don't really notice it anymore.

If you want you can try removing the clear plastic faceplate and see if it still shows up. If it does, the LCD is damaged. If not, the faceplate is probably dented minutely inwards and putting pressure on the LCD and distorting it.

Mine has the same thing...after I had it in my cargo pants pocket and kneeled on top of it. The crystals have broken and leaked, creating this black spot. But I agree, I don't really pay attention to it anymore
