Default Small Scratch

Please Login to Remove!

I have a small scratch on the upper right of my phone, but not on the screen. What do I do other than live with it. Because I've tried that, and it's not working well.

There's not much you can do...

Get a new housing or cover it with duct tape

Default The screen is coated - Don't use an abrasive polish...

The screen has a coating, so you will strip it if you use an abrasive solution. I learned this the hard way, using a popular repair solution for displays. I looked up the specs to see what sort of coating was on my phone. The best way to repair it is to fill in and build up the scratch, layer by layer, using a repair kit that addresses coated plastics. Do not use abrasives on the screen or you will strip the coating and the logos underneath - and it will look dull and ruined. Coatings refract light differently (tint), so I don't think there is a perfect repair. It will depend on the scratch and tint of the coating. Take a look at Scratch Pro - it has a filler in the kit and it has good reviews - at Merlin's Table.

You can also look up scratch repair or do a targeted online search with the plus symbol in front of the words +LCD +scratch +repair - to find more repair products and ideas. If you find one, look online for 'real' customer reviews.

Get a toothpick and some model paint and touch it up?

Get a Bestskinsever (Best Skins Ever, Inc. Home Page) protective transparent skin to avoid any additional scratches.

You could try one of the clear coatings. I use Bodyguardz, but its the same material. They are cut differently so cover slightly differently depending on the brand. The coating is thick and somewhat spongy so the back adhesive might seep into the crack and make it undetectable. Even if it doesn't, it'll protect from future scratches.

Where is the scratch? Perhaps a rubber skin would cover it up cheaply and protect the rest of it.

I hear ya on not being able to live with a bad scratch. I come positively unhinged if there's a flaw like that on my devices.

Ok, here is the deal. It's gonna happen. Just go ahead and accept the fact you have a scratch and let it go. I used to baby my Pearl until I got used to dropping it. Now its been dropped on the floor, in a cup of coffee (after 3 months, it dried out and worked fine) in the mud, on my floor mat, etc. It's scratched all to hell, but now I don't worry about it. I guess I'm trying to break it so I can get a new Pearl Flip!

Oh yeah, sorry you scratched your Blackberry.
