You can use a Skype chat client no VoIP.

I use IM+ for Skype from Shapeservices_.dot_com. Works v well for IMing, but it's not free (although you can have a trial use) and calls are also chargable as they work on a call back system. Not too bad if you have a SkypeIn number to use though.

try raketu.com

it works in Canada, USA, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China for me so far...

p.s. you need a local sim card for each country to get FREE calls....

Try iSkoot, (url left out because of stupid forum rules), they are Skype partners so no a thing or two about Skype, but it's not as good as a pure Skype client would be. Come on Skype, pull your finger out!

There is no true SKYPE client for a BB that I am aware of, only the IM/chat clients mentioned above.

Default Skype

I just downloaded iSkoot and it works great! The only thing is, it calls Skype and then calls you back, so connecting takes a few extra seconds. Other than that, it works like a dream and uses the existing Skype account seamlessly. I agree that Skype is behind the curve on this one.

iSkoot works fine, although it doesn't make much sense as to why they set it up so you have to incur airtime charges. Why can't it just use the data plan only?
