I've got 4.5.0.69 on mine, and that proved to be a significant improvement over the 4.2 OS that was installed on it when I bought it. Still though, as an 8700 owner/user (I've had several), IMO, the 8700 blows the Curve away when it comes to stability and performance. Of course, the 8700 did less as well, but it did it perfectly. I'm thrilled with all that the Curve is
capable of, but less than thrilled with it's track record for reliability and overall performance "feel" (I prefer the side mounted jog wheel to the trackball as well).
I know that some will rush to say how great the Curve is, and that problems are few and far between (or that they're user created), but: Do a Google search on "BlackBerry Curve re-starts", and you'll see what I mean. Media files that work flawlessly on other devices, seem to be somehow "corrupt" and potentially cause spontaneous re-starts on the Curve. The exact manner in which the MicroSD card is formatted might cause re-starts. If you use UMA on an 8320, that might cause/be part of a re-start problem. Then, there's (what seems to me) to be a much higher than normal number of trackball quirks/issues on new Curves. I'm on my second Curve, and so far, it seems OK, but it has, at times, done some odd things (on 4.2 and 4.5). There are plenty of folks that have gone through 3 or 4 to get one that's usable. So, with all this bashing, why am I still using it? Because right now, 99% of the time it works well, and it provides me with connectivity (via UMA) at work, when otherwise I'd have no signal. But, again, IMO, this phone will never be the stable workhorse that the 8700 was (still is).
But, anyway, yes. As far as I'm concerned, the performance is slow when compared to the 8700.
