Default GPS not working in downtown Toronto

Please Login to Remove!

I am on a Curve 8310 with Rogers and work in downtown Toronto. Not only can I get not satellites in my building, I was just a Eaton Center and was standing outside and still could not get a signal. Anyone else have this issue or is there something I can do??

Thanks

For good GPS, you need to be outside with a clear view of the sky. Buildings a trees can block the signal. The device has to "see" the satellites to get a good lock. Needs at least 2 in most cases, but more is better and gets a better position.

If I am walking around does that not count towards the "count down" of finding a satellite... do I need to be stationary??

Well you are the lucky one I guess. Obviously you are near a window, no concrete or steel in the construction.

And I assume you already had a connection when you walked inside. How many sats are connected and how good is the position?

You can be moving. Did it lock on?

I actually have it off. Along wit location aiding disabled. I turn it on when I use Nav4all.
So maybe it is my location in NY and Toronto is the reason.
I do have problems when I am on I-80 going into PA or near Williamsport PA.
I have been able to get connected in a place called MetroTech where FDNY has its communication for 911. Talk about isolated around steel and concrete.

I usually stay stationary till I get a signal. Sometimes it could take 2 to 3 min.

I use 4.5.0.55 OS on my ATT curve.
