Desktop Manager 4.5, where did my handheld OS files go?
Please Login to Remove!
When I used Desktop Manager 4.2 and 4.3, the .cod files for the handheld software (OS) resided in Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\[...]\Java (that may not be the exact path as I am not at home but you get the picture). From there, if I wanted to remove unused themes, language files, PTT, etc., I just renamed those files (rather than delete them) and the next time I sync'd with my Blackberry, those OS components were removed from the handheld.
Now, I am using Desktop Manager 4.5. I went to the path above and all the .cod files are gone. I know I am in the right place however, because my renamed .cod files are still there, but all other .cod files are gone. I did a total drive search for *.cod and all I get are my 3rd Party applications. Where did the handheld OS go?
Even my previous OS, which I kept on the hard drive, has had all the .cod files removed, leaving only my renamed .cod's.
1) Did DM 4.5 remove those files?
2) How does one remove unused themes, PTT, etc. now?
3) Is DM 4.5 only designed to be used with OS 4.5 or something?
I realize I can uninstall DM 4.5 and reinstall 4.2 or 4.3 and re-download and install my handheld OS again, rename the unwanted OS component files from .cod to something else and be back to normal in a few hours, but I haven't heard anyone mention anything similar while doing a forum search. Someone would have run into this before me, so it's kind of puzzling, or it's right in front of my nose and I'm not seeing it.
My phone is working fine, Desktop Manager is working fine, everything syncs and backs up perfectly. But if I wanted to remove say, the stock Dimension Today theme (which used to just be a matter of renaming the .cod), I no longer can.
Any feedback, thoughts, suggestions? Thanks in advance.
