Unhappy Trying to update my OS......

Please Login to Remove!

I'm currently running v4.2.0.71.
I've been trying for two days now to update my OS on my pearl, but I can't seem to do it....
I do not have the desktop manager because I've never updated my OS, so I went to the site and I've downloaded it three different times. It takes over an hour each time and when I double click to install, it starts and then has some sort of malfunction- different each time.
I have Vista on the computer- so that may be the problem.....???
Someone please help me??
I guess EXTREMELY detailed instructions - with a link that works for the desktop manager- might get me from start to finish. I've been using the link from Blackberry... I have no idea why that won't work because it seems like a great source. Oh and I used the Vondafone download once.
I'd really really appreciate your help!
Thank you,
Christina

Itnis possible that the DL isn't completing properly try the links here in the forums to get a link to DL DM 4.5 and try that.

Also, I've seen the instructions posted on the site and I can't get past downloading the desktop manager because it won't download.

If an OTA update exists I would cry from happiness.... Anyone know of one? Or am I just dreaming?

This is what I've been trying to download:
Desktop Manager 4.5.0 B16 Multilanguage - With Media Manager

* File name: 450_b016_multilanguage.exe
* File size: 276.72487 MB
* Date posted: 20-Jun-08

Is that correct? Is it compatible with Vista?

There is no OTA upgrade unfortunatly. As far as Vista is concerned I can't help. I am on XP.

I'm running DM4.5 on Vista and it's working perfectly. If you're having trouble installing DM it sounds like it's possibly a corrupt download or something. I downloaded mine directly from blackberry.com.

I'm thinking it might just be the computer....
I'm working on downloading DM without the media part.... I'll see if it works.
Does anyone know if there's a Mac version?

If not, I guess I'm just stuck with my ancient OS :o(

Christina, you need to load DM to your Vista PC with Administrator rights in Vista.

Secondly, if it were me, I would install the DM version withOUT the Media Manager. It is a smaller download and much less hassle without Roxio Media Manager tied to it (which is worthless in my opinion, anyway).

DO NOT install the media manager.

I'm using Vista and I experienced corruped installation simply because of the media manager.
I tried again without media manager and all went like a breeze.

The more I read about it, even in the BBF, Vista doesn't sound like the OS of choice. I see from Microsoft's site that XP is (or will be soon) no longer available for purchase but support will last another 6 years.

No problem here with vista and DM 4.5 manager with media. Make sure you are signed in as admin with vista . my guess is corrupt download.

The more I read about how bad Vista is, the more I question the credibility of those bold claims.

I'm using Vista for over one year. I NEVER had ANY problems. NOT EVEN A SINGLE BSOD.

Could be, but I am still a little skittish. Perhaps I'll wait for SP3 to be released!!
