Default questions about web browsing

i just made the switch from a sk2 to a blackberry 7290 with cingular(i wanted vzw but a $400 deposit wasnt happening) today. so far i love everything about it except that the web seems very slow and picky. my main purpose for ditching the sk was the sub-56k speeds i was getting. and sadly my blackberry doesnt seem to be much better. pages take 3 - 4 minutes to completely load and sometimes will load just as a blank screen. my question is, is all of this normal? or did i just pick a bad time to become a blackberry owner?

Leave pictures disabled if at all possible. That will eat up allot of your bandwidth. It should not take that long to load.

It'll get better. Believe me. You'll need to jiggle your settings. Disable pictures and other stuff. Do a search, and you'll figure out what to disable to speed up your surfing. Experiment with web pages. You'll soon find those that load up faster than others. You should be able to do much better than the 4 minute load time you're experiencing. I have favorites that load up as fast as my dial-up desktop at home (15-30 seconds).
I love to surf the net on my 7290 (also with Cingular), whenever I'm stuck waiting for something or another, or when I'm travelling. Your web experience will only get better and better as you figure out how to use your Berry. Surfing is a definite plus in owning a BB. You will soon get the hang of it if you persevere, and you'll love your Berry for it.
