I have a TMO Curve 8320 and work in an office building in Miami, FL. We just moved into new space and whenever I move out of my office (which has a window) into the interior spaces, my signal strength drops dramatically. I am going to compare other people's BBs to the Curve to see how their signal strength reacts in the same places.
My question: Is the Curve's antenna better/same as/weaker than other BBs? Do any BBs have an especially strong antenna that would make an unfair comparison (IIRC, 8700gs have great antennas)?
I want to confirm there is an issue with my Curve before I call TMO for an exchange.
I asked a similar question a few months ago, but can't find the thread to revive it and ask this there.
My Curve get great reception in comparison to my other cell phones. I would look at the possibility that T-Mo coverage is not so good in your new location.
I get poor Signal sometimes but thats only because I live in a Basement...LOL... But other than that when i am in the office its got full Signal and I also have other co worker with curves and Pearls and we all have High Signals reception...
I would agree with Greg. I work in a space with no windows and My EDGE connection is pretty strong. You might want to set your Curve's WIFI on. It might help.
My Curve has WAYYYY better reception than any cell phone I have ever had. Anywhere at work that I don;t get reception, I just put in a router and EDGE solves all.
I used to have a 8100 with T-Mobile and got great reception at work, then we moved to a new location and signal strength was noticeably weaker. So it may just be spotty coverage in your office like mines was at home were the kitchen was the only place I got edge in all caps.
Reception on my 8320 Curve is good, but it could be better. Other TMO users at my apartment complex (which has very little coverage as accurately mapped on their coverage map) with Samsung and Nokia phones get better reception. However, with UMA/Wifi access this has pretty much been solved for me.
