If you haven't, do set up through your carrier. Some require a fee and the info in the link may not be up to date.

Wirelessly posted

If you are using your 8700c on att, I believe you need to have tethering added on your account, I'm not sure if there is an additional fee or not, but you should them and ask about tethering.

I have the basic BB service added to my ATT line and do not pay for the tethering. You can do it w/out paying.
IM me and I will see if we can figure out what is going wrong.

I was getting the same error on my BB...did you put in any extra Init commands???
After a while of searching through my config, i found out that "s=11" was in my extra init string...no idea how it got there, either. So, I removed it, and it didn't give me the error anymore...

error 718 is just a timed out error

Default Tethering your 8700 with at&t got easier..

You no longer have to hand create the connection and modem if you are using at&t. Download Connection Manager from at&t's web site, install it and follow the directions. You may want to remove the hand built settings you have done previous to this prior to the installation just to keep a "clean house" and avoid any potential conflicts. Just remember to not connect your Blackberry until instructed to do so during the installation.
Sprint and Verizon have similar software packages available.
