Default 8110 from Rogers in USA

A Rogers phone rep told me a Rogers store would sell a phone without a contract. So since they are GPS, I assume it would work fine on at&t IF it is unlocked. Anyone know if Rogers phones are unlocked. Is this a (expensive) way to beat the lack of USA release?

Odds are you'll spend upwards of $500 to buy it, and it will not be unlocked. I'm also not certain if they will sell it to you if you are not a customer or in Canada.

I think ebay would probably be the better bet.
