Default MobiPocket 6 out of beta, release version online

Please Login to Remove!

MobiPocket 6 has finally come out of beta, release version 6.00.065 is out now for download. So far it appears to be working fine for me; point your BB browser at:

http://m.mobipocket.com/

...and it'll take you to the right download link.

Does not work for my BB 8320. I have used the beta version before and it was working fine. Then I decided to download the release version (it is now 6.00.067 now, btw) and when I try to launch the app, it opens the splash screen of mobipocket reader...then a yellow box saying "please wait..." this screen just stay there and doesn't proceed any further...I have tried uninstalling, then reinstalling, battery pull...still not working.

You know, earlier when I looked at the forums on mobipocket.com for release notes I saw a thread with someone having the exact same problem as you, he must be running the .067 as well. I upgraded.... last night? night before? when it was .065 and this version is working fine for me as far as I can tell.

Unfortunately I did it OTA from their server and didn't download a copy that I could share with everyone of this .065 version.

EDIT: here's the thread, you should create an account and add your feedback as well so they know more than one person is having the problem:

I have lots of ebooks and a 4gb micro SD card. I wonder if this is why the "please wait" or initilizing screen is taking a long time...

I made a mistake btw, I have .066 installed - it must be I had .065 installed and upgraded, that's why it was on my mind. I haven't had a chance to try the .067 yet...

Well, still not working for me...I even tried to remove my microSD card just to see if the application will initialize faster....it is still giving me the "Please Wait..." message.
How long did it take for the application to initialize in your BB?

Installed 6.0 on my curve. After it started my app loader, it re-installed all my device software without doing a backup , so all my mail is lost, and all my MDSS apps are gone, too ... grrrrrr!

Anyway, I cant get the install to finish, it just reboots and reboots and mobipocket says "do not disconnect the device" - well, fine, but for how long? minutes, hours, days ???? When i disconnect, it does start up the device.

Mobipocket is there, and I can read a book from the memory, but not from the SD card?

Then Mobipocket keeps telling me there is a newer version available, but when I click through that, its starts the apploader, but then it says there is no new softare to install ! grrrrr.

what a load of rubbish!

I would like to try the over the air download, does anyone have a link to that?

Ok, the over the air download is the same version I was using anyway.

6.0.0.067

I tried uninstalling and installing over the air, and then my device showed an error 200 and a reset option, which did not reset the device when I clicked on it, anyway.

I am uninstalling it now....

Downloaded it and installed it, after having used the beta version. Beta version was incredibly slow to start up, and had huge lags while browsing through my list of ebooks.

This new version is a lot better. It loads faster, browses through the list faster, all in all is more responsive.

Except for the minor problem of it making my Tmo 8320 Curve reboot at random! Has anyone else experienced this problem? Finally had to uninstall it so I could use Telenav or anything garish like talking on the phone or writing an email without having it shut off then boot back up.

Now I don't know where to get the previous beta version, or any version other than the .67, and right when I'm in the middle of reading a book on it too, argh. Anyone??

Hey guys, quick before it disappears - I managed to find a way to download the .065 beta version ZIP file (so it's an ALX and COD install from the desktop manager, not OTA) still, they haven't completely wiped the site yet from sneaky guys like me.

Download here and save:
http://www.mobipocket.com/dev/beta/b...n=downloadSoft

That should download mobireaderBlackberryB065.zip, which has one ALX at the top directory (inside), then one cod for older devices and one for newer devices. I would say completely uninstall your .067 version and do a reboot before installing this.

I downloaded a copy and tucked it away in case I start to have problems with my 066 install on my device.

===========

For the curious, I used http://www.archive.org, a site that snapshots web pages over time for the whole internet. First I googled the keywords "mobipocket reader blackberry download", and the fifth hit down took me here:

http://www.mobipocket.com/dev/beta/default.asp

On that page I navigated to the download page here:

http://www.mobipocket.com/dev/beta/blackberry.asp?ID=3

That page *now* says the beta has ended, but what I then did is stick that URL into the archive.org website, which gave me this:

http://web.archive.org/web/200707160...berry.asp?ID=3

On *that* 'time machine' page, there's a link to download:

http://web.archive.org/web/200707160...n=downloadSoft

...and when you look at the URL, the last part is the actual real address. So, we simply chop that off and try it in yet another new tab in Firefox giving us the download link:

http://www.mobipocket.com/dev/beta/b...n=downloadSoft

...which, as of right this second (2008-03-01 10:11 GMT -0800) allows us to download the old 065 beta zip file.

rivviepop....thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!!! The version you have works in my BB. I wonder why the newer version doesn't...but right now, I don't care, .065 works perfectly.
