I know your probably going to laugh but I am still a newbee. I noticed my MMS is set to home only...(I looked using FAQ but can't find it.) How come its not set to always?
Also, being I am still not connected to the internet . I was wondering if there is away I can get my pics off my pc and send them to my I can't seem to figure that out either. you guys are just so smart and have the right answers. I just thought I would ask

I can't understand what you mean about your MMS being set to home and not always? eh?

But without a data plan, you won't have MMS.

To move your pictures, use the USB connection to your Media Card, and drag and drop from your PC to your BB's Media card, very easy process.

I believe that the "Always" vs "Home" setting on MMS is the ability to limit your device from downloading data when you're roaming. . . (Main Menu -> Options -> MMS: Multimedia Reception & Retrieval) . . . some carriers may actually charge extra for downloading MMS while roaming. As a TMobile customer, I think it would be ok to set your setting to Always. . . but ask your TMO rep about such charges anyway.

I don't know about JS's experience with MMS w/o data plan, but I am able to send MMS/SMS without one. . . MMS messages are sent using a combination of SMS and WAP technologies . . .it's compicated but data plan is not required.

...and just a side note to JS's suggestion for moving multimedia files, make sure you have the latest device OS (v4.2.xxx) and Desktop Manager (v4.2.xxx) . . .

Are you gonna keep it a secret or let the OP know?

One may enable enable their APN, but that alone does not allow MMS to always work.

Keep what a secret? . . . OP can set the MMS setting to Always, assuming OP has TMO as service provider.

What's complicated?...how MMS messages are sent and received . . . but the fact is that one does not need a data plan to be able to use MMS messaging so long as the device is MMS-enabled . . .

ok, good. If you are able to MMS on a BB without a data plan, cool. It works for you. I can't disagree about what is working for you.

I do understand MMS is really nothing more than SMS with a data file, and for many users, there must be a data plan by which to carry that data. Or at least the TCP settings enabled, and of course your Data Service should be on, otherwise your data plan won't be operational!
