Terrible sound quality

I recently got the Sony HBH-DS980 headset for my 8320 Curve both the phone and the headset are amazing but the sound quality from my phones bluetooth stereo is TERRIBLE. It sounds very static and airy. I've tested the headset with a iPod with a bluetooth reciever and it sounds amazing and I've also tried using other bluetooth headsets and the sound quality for those were awful too. Is anyone else experiencing this problem or have any ideas?
