Lightbulb Emails in the MMS Message Bin

Please Login to Remove!

Blackberry 8100 n00b here. So far so good.

My BB is setup for personal emails, and I've noticed that they show up under my email bin as well as my text message bin. Any way to turn off the double notifications? Seems silly to have them in the text bin too, no?

Your help appreciated.

Justin, emails should not be showing up in your SMS/Text message folder.
Are you sure those are emails?

My only suggestion is to pull your battery and reboot the device.

Perhaps the OP is calling the message folder the MMS folder?

Ya they definitely are emails showing up. When the associate at the store was setting up the phone he mentioned to me this was how it would be. Personal emails showing up as txt messages as well as emails. I thought it strange at the time but didn't inquire. Grrrr.

Reboot didn't do the trick :(

I guess my real worry is that AT & T is going to make me foot the bill for all the txt messages.

Then you need to find out from that ATT associate how he set you up. I have never heard of such.

The folder in question, not opened, and you highlight your trackball over it, what is it named?

There's a "messages" folder, then there is one labeled with my email address "juice454[at]gmail{dot}com". The messages folder is the one in question. It drops emails and texts to that folder along with all emails to "gmail" folder. Plus since the AT&T guy made light that this was how it defaulted, messages going into both folders, I hesitate to think he'd be any help in fixing the problem.

Everything is delivered to the message folder. Thus, BIS email is duplicated in the message folder as well as the BIS folders. You can separate text messages, if you want. Go to message folder and open options, general options, and reset the SMS and Email Inboxes setting to the value you desire.

There's nothing to "fix". What you are seeing is how the BlackBerry is designed to work.
All messages from all sources go into the Messages box. It's a consolidated mailbox which collects messages from any account linked to your device.

Thanks for the input. Seems redundant to me to have the same messages stored in two different places.

They aren't stored in two different places. If you delete from one, it deletes from both. Just hide the email specific folder, leave the messages.

Ditto what JS said. And FYI, the message folder can have many uses. Sent and received PIN messages will be there. You can set the phone options to show missed calls in the message folder. Also, if you are using Yahoo messenger, you can set that to show in messages folder. Etc., Etc.

Keep playing with it and before you know it you will be in the groove and it will all make sense. Blackberrys are different.
