Default BlackBerry: Email - Sub Folders Question

Please Login to Remove!

Hello everyone. I have a very interesting question. I have noticed this on my own personal BlackBerry, but we just had a user call in and ask this very same question.....and we didn't know how to answer this.

The user wants to know why when he opens his mailbox on his BlackBerry, clicks the wheel in and selects "View Folder", then selects a sub folder other than Inbox, that the email's that are in there are not showing up on his BlackBerry. The user says that there are email messages in the folder in Outlook, but the BlackBerry shows no messages in the folder.

We are on the complete wireless system here, everything is sync'ed wirelessly. Any reason why sub folder messages don't pull over to the devices?

Are you using a BES Server???

If you are the folders will have to be selected on the server.

Then they will wirelessly sync.

This definitely works for Lotus Notes, so mayeb it works for Outlook also...

Go into the messages folder, pull up the menu and select Options. Select Email Settings and you'll find yourself in the screen where you can add an Autosignature. Pull up teh menu again and select Folder Redirection. You'll find a Folder tree...go through and make sure that the Folders your user needs to view are ticked. The ones that are ticked are the ones that will be sync'ed. Don't tick more than you have to or sync'ing will take forever.

Come all the way out (saving where appropriate) and pull up the menu again. Select Reconcile Now and you should be able to see the emails in the selected folders.

It is also possible that the messages in the folders are older than the retention period set on the Blackberry. It's important to let your users know that the default setting for retaining emails on the BB is 30 days.

Is there a manual way to put the emails on the device rather than wirelessly sync?

Question Similar Problem

I recently switched from BIS to BES. I have a large number of subfolders that I imported from GMAIL IMAP account by backing up and restoring from PST file. None of those folders ( outside of default folders ) show up on my BBerry.

Now, there is a subfolder that I created using the "folder->new" option in OWA, and that folder appears in my BBerry. Kind of weird, is there a way to have the other folders appear in my BBerry so that I can file emails to them?

So, to recap,

On BBerry, I see Inbox and the one newly created folder.
In Outlook and OWA, I see all of the folders.
All new emails are available on all 3 locations.

I am using Hosted BES/Exchange, just in case that is important.
