Default Version of OS4.5 that doesn't ruin the camera?

Please Login to Remove!

Pardon me if this isn't allowed in the forum - not a noob (anymore) to the Pearl, but new to the site.

Is there a version of OS4.5 (which I love, especially now that Rogers has upgraded to BIS 2.5) that doesn't completely ruin the camera? i did use the camera a fair bit, but now it's useless.

thanks all!

I don't have any issue with my camera with .46 or .44 when I was using that one...not sure what issues you were having

I haven't experienced any camera issues. However, if it's not working then I'd find another version or downgrade back to what you had that worked.

I foubd a .46 version and gave that a try - same issue, The issue is no matter waht light balance I have it set at, it is pitch black on the dark, and washed out in white outside. I don;t really want to downgrade, as I do use the media player, and it's MUCH better on the 4.5 OS.

The choices one must make, eh?

I have also had issues with my camera since upgrading my 8100 to 4.5.0.37. I've attached 2 example pictures. One is of my office, and the colors are really whack. It seems like the white balance is way too high. The other photo was an attempt to take a picture of the view from my window. It's sunny outside, but not extremely.

I've tried toying with the settings, but nothing helps. Basically, I can't take any pictures outside when the sun is out, and the color is off in all other pictures.

yeah, I've had my camera just as bad with .37, .44, and .46 (currently running) on my 8100

I guess for now it's the price to pay for the new 4.5 features :( Hope they address that soon.

I've also tried doing a complete wipe of the phone, and re-installing the OS, but that didn't fix the problem either.

you can give it a shot

worst thing that happens you have to wipe device and reload

tis is a known issue for all current beta releases with the 8100 4.5.0.42 and up so far

This worked perfectly fine for older versions of 4.5; but not ones since 4.5.0.37, I believe. Another interesting thing you can do is take the video camera COD from an 8120 or 8320 and upload it via JL_CMDR. It will be pretty ugly, but is a pretty nice proof of concept.

I'm running a beta.46 currently. Maybe I'll give it a try - it can't be any worse than what it is. That'll be a project for the weekend, just in case I need the time to re-install the OS if I bugger it up.

My 8100 camera is totally washed out in bright light as well under both .42 and .46

Did you try this?
How do you find and copy the camera .cod file from 4.2?

I tried the coping of the .cod file from the Rogers 4.2.109 software. No dice. The camera was better indoors, but nowhere near where it was with the full OS 4.2 installed. So, I'll sacrifice it at the moment for HTML and better media player (which I use A LOT more than the camera anyway). Hopefully the next offical release has solved this issue.
