Default OS 4.5 and Verizon

Please Login to Remove!

Forgive me if this has been covered, but I can't find out the answer even though I searched.

Did verizon release 4.5 yet for the 8830? I keep seeing conflicting posts. Some verizon users seem to be on 4.5, but when I go to verizon I see the latest OS at 4.2.

I would love to see the improvements in email, but don't want to mess up my BB.

So, has verizon updated it's OS or not?

Verizon has not yet released OS 4.5 for any of their devices.
In fact, no CDMA carrier (Sprint, Alltel, Verizon) has officially released version 4.5

If you see Verizon users with 4.5 (which you might), it's because they are using leaked/unreleased/beta versions of the OS.

penguin,

thank you. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on the HTML email. I'm waiting for that before I make a 3rd party purchase.

If you're waiting on HTML mail you may have to wait till the next BES upgrade as well.

Only for BES messages. BIS HTML email is currently available for i believe all subscribers now. APAC then Europe then the Americas. Not sure about any subscribers in Africa, do they follow Europe? All you need to get it is handheld software 4.5+ and it has been released for many GSM models officially, CDMA will follow in the coming months.

And if you ever do find the unreleased beta that may be out right now, I do not recommend installing that version.

Thats fair. Maybe I shouldn't generalize. I have seen the opposite as well. I guess balance is good.

I have the 8830 and don't plan on upgrading until verizon releases the upgrade. I also don't use BES email, so I can wait a while for the HTML email. I think 3rd party software may still be better in the end, but I am willing to wait and see.

Yeah.
When I downloaded the one accessible beta release, it was not a good experience. Some have had more luck. I want to have your attitude but i am sure I will be inpatient and try the next beta.

I'm running 4.5 and i have not had many issues...

plus the fact that there is that ring volume fix (or work around) is worth every bit of the little issues...
