Default DocumentsToGo?

Will this work with OS4.3 which my new blackberry will come with from vVerizon or will it only work on OS4.5?

4.5 only. why are they also releasing 4.3? Docs2go has just made my bb a whole lot more useful!

I've got 4.5 installed and DTG premium, and since haven't been able to open attachments, nor even open the BBmenu in emails with attachments that come from BES as opposed to those from my personal account.

I'm thinking DTG premium is the problem as the BES is not upgraded yet. Any thoughts, and can I remove DTG premium without wiping out DTG standard as well?

thanks

removed DTG premium and still can't open attachments as described above. Maybe it's a problem with 4.5 and the BES? Anyone?

I do believe there is a conflict of some sort between OS 4.5 and the current version of BES/BIS server software which will be addressed in an upcoming update. This update will then allow you to open attachments with DocsToGo instead of the attachment service.

The only way you can restore the service is to revert back to 4.2. <- I'm not 100% sure on this part, but certain that DocsToGo will NOT run on 4.2.

What's odd to me though is that the left menu key won't even open, in an open email with an attachment. Do you think this is from the conflict as well?

I wonder if the DTG options on the Menu (on BIS) will be fixed in this weekends or next weekends planned maintenance upgrades on the RIM servers.

I can hope.

Sorry I can't really comment on that as I haven't upgraded as yet (waiting for these little bugs to be worked out). Previous info is known to me only from reading through various threads of similar topics. However, it does seem an odd issue that I agree is not likely part of the conflict issues.

You stated previously that you removed premium, etc ........... have you tried a battery pull? Might be worth a shot.

The DocumentsToGo version that came with OS4.5 beta versions, does work on OS4.3, which only has Word to Go and Slideshow To Go, if you upgrade to the new version which includes Sheets To Go or the Premium version, then it will not work. I have it working on a 8330 with OS4.3.

This the first I heard this, but how did you extract DocsToGo from 4.5. Do you have to install it to your device and get it from the backup files or something?

Not ready for the upgrade yet ....... seems too many bugs, but would love to have DTG.

FYI the conflict I was having (preventing me from opening attachments from BES) was not caused by DTG (at least on its face). It was/is Empower mail viewer.

Wirelessly posted

Good to know CSO, thanks for the update. As I said before I can only go by what I've read as I haven't updated my Curve yet.

I guess you could say that I am gun shy, after dealing with unstable Treo's for several years. My BB has been rock solid since day 1 and I am a bit apprehensive when I think about the issues I have read about with regards to OS 4.5.

I installed 4.5 on my 8310, then I connected my 8330 (OS4.3) to Desktop Manager, and did these steps:
  1. Application Loader
  2. Add or Browse (depending on which version of DM you are using)
  3. Go to: C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research in Motion/Shared/Loader Files/8310-v4.5.0.37
  4. Select DocumentsToGo.alx
  5. Install and done
There is a new version of Documents To Go which includes Sheets to go, but the new version does not work on OS4.3
