Default OS 4.5 Upgrade Problem with BBMessenger

Please Login to Remove!

Last night I upgraded to 4.5 successfully, aside from a problem with messenger.

When I first switched on and went into messenger, it told me "You have switched devices, do you want to transfer your contacts about? (weird grammatical error) If not, your contacts will be erased." So I clicked yes to copy my contacts over (I think/hope), and my contact list shows my old tally (about 20 contacts), but they're not listed. I can't click on any individual name because I can't see any.

Additionally, 2 conversations continued after the upgrade, so I got 2 incoming messages, and these contacts were added to a list in messenger called "Pending PIN Update Confirmation". I clicked on each of these names and selected "Send PIN update now", but it doesn't seem to have done anything.

Can anyone help? I just want my contact list back.

Thanks.

I have upgraded to DM 4.5 but did not have the same problem. What OS are you running on your phone? I wonder if that could be the problem. I am also running a beta OS 4.5.0.42 and have not experienced this problem. Hmmm....something to check on I guess.

What say you

The OS is what I installed (see above), along with desktop 4.5 to facilitate the install (according to the instructions I was using, the newest desktop manager needed to be installed before the OS was upgraded).

I'm thinking it may be a bug where the OS thinks it should be on a new device but it's not?

I have the same problem after a battery pull. Went back to 4.2.2.184 and this condition does not happen? Looks like a bug. Its been around since .18 release.

Have the same issue on 4.5.0.33 for CDMA. After a battery pull I get the same you have switched devices message, and I just let it resend the thing to my contacts. They show as pending until they accept me again.

What I do is do a restore from my previous backup. Make sure you delete the SYNC service book and then once the restore is complete go back and undelete the sync service book.

Same issue here too. Strange, for me it happens after a battery pull, SOMETIMES. Doesn't do it every battery pull.

Do you have contacts that use both the BIS and BES services?

No, there are no contacts that contain a smiley in the contact name.
