Everything was going so welll...
then this afternoon when I launched Google Maps, I received an "Uncaught exception Error: Google Maps is not responding..." when it loaded to 90%.
Rebooted, retried, removed, rebooted, reloaded, retried. Same error. Battery pulls did not help. Anyone else having this happen suddenly. Google Maps had been working.
OK, just found in another Forum that this IS an issue with 4.5. I guess I'll have to wait for a Google update.

Just upgrade to this version. So far so good, YAY ! Everything works great, checked out all apps, no issues so far as I can see, inc Google Maps. Looks a lot better than before.

I see there are versions of 4.5.0.42 for just about all blackberries. 8100, 8110, 8120, 8300, 8310, 8320, 8700, 8800, 8820. I wonder if that's usual or a hint that .42 will be the defacto standard to start things off.

Some carriers could release that version .42, but later versions are out and about now.

Filename: 8310M_PBr4[1].5.0_rel52_PL2.7.0.55_A4.5.0.37

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8310:
1. Make sure you have the latest version of Desktop Manager installed.
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

My "only" issue with 4.5.0.42 strangely enough is that I do not get the voicemail message indicator?
Absolutely everything else I use (including MapQuest) works perfectly but no voicemail waiting indicator???
I do get the "Missed Call" message on the BB Today Screen and that is OK as a workaround (for now)... anyone else seeing this? I use an unlocked 8310 on TMO///

I see that 4.5.44 supports UMA which must mean it *works* on an 8320:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/beta...ease-62-a.html
This thread of some older 4.5 releases seems to be inconclusive/negative about UMA working:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/beta...-8320-a-2.html
Anyone tested 4.5.0.52 to see if UMA works with it? I know it is not published to work for an 8320 but it doesn't seem like the 4.5.44 can be that different. I might try it tonight but was wondering if anyone else has so I don't waste my time.
**EDIT: Please disregard this post. After more reading it seems 100% that .37 doesn't work for UMA. I got confused between the .52 package version and the .37 os version.

just for clarification...can you guys post if you are using the beta .37, beta .42, the official .37 or any other form of the 4.5 OS. i thought the thread was about the officially released .37, but all those other numbers have been discussed here. i was trying to figure out if i should upgrade to the officially released .37 or not. im getting impatient waiting for the official at&t 4.5 release.
also if you are on the officially released .37 what are the pros and cons to it? so far it seems like its all good...stable, fast, and other stuff (memory leaks?)
thanks in advance...

I would say to keep all Beta talk in the Beta forum, but here it goes, the voicemail icon missing is a bug that right now is limited to T-Mobile.

What are the black squares next to every open SMS text, and why are there red exclamation marks next to every few SMS texts?

For SMS I don't have boxes or exclamation marks, just the regular checks and envelopes.

Another successful install! Just picked up the 8310 and immediately installed 4.5.0.37 Everything works great! Although I did have one minor hang up.
The phone would cycle through and keep rebooting. I read some articles that mentioned that it had to do with the media card. So I backed it up and reformatted it in the 8310, then reloaded the media. The issue still occurred, I then started navigating through the media and isolated it to a specific pictures folder I had previously created on my 8100. Come to find out it was a specific picture in the folder. Whats strange is that the picture displayed fine on the 8100 with no problems. Oh well needless to say, that picture was deleted with the quickness!!!

upgrade
I did the upgrade, and everything seems to be working EXCEPT the voice note application. After I record a voice note and try to play it back it reads "The media being played is of an unsupported format" anyone have any ideas or sugestions?
Thanks,
Craig

Video camera with 4.5.0.37
Installed 4.5.0.37 on my 8310 yesterday. Looks good so far with one exception. I cant seem to get the video camera to work. When it opens, I can get it to start recording by clicking the trackball, but it only shows a black screen, and then if I try clicking anything else it stops and the whole phone freezes, and requires a battery pull. It has also affected the regular camera, which prior to the upgrade took pictures wihtout a problem, but now only shows a black screen and also requires a battery pull. As an fyi I did add a 4GB microsd card. Any ideas? Thanks.

No voicemail on TMo, that's correct. I had the same issue so I looked at the alternatives.
YouMail - Cell Phone Voice Mail with Personalized Greetings and Online Retrieval
I tried this out and am now a fan of this service. It's great. I get an email that has the voicemail transcribed in it as well as a .wav attachment of the voicemail. I can also call in to my voicemail, just as I would have before. Even when the voicemail issue is fixed, I'm sticking with this service.

Video Issue
When I record video, for some reason it shows 0KB as the size, and does not save it to the memory card. Anybody else experiencing this? Any suggestions? Of course I have done the battery pull etc. Thanks!
