I think you can go to Options >Advanced Options >Applications and delete it in there. I've not done that in a long time, though, as I always clean out stuff when I load it.

Would removing the VAD files have any affect on voice features in apps like Live Search and TellMe, etc.?

the file you want is actually
net_rim_bb_medialoader_320x240_b.cod

John, this works great and i thank you. The only question i have is about BBmaps with 4.5.0.42, the thread that you mention to enable it on an AT&T phone is not in the LBS.alx file and since installing this OS I have everything I want except BBmaps. Any advice?

i had a Q cause i ran into a little issue. i install bb dm then downloaded the os and when i go to install the os it says a newer version is installed already..? i downloaded 4.3 b025 in the bb dm non media english and then 4.3 os only gave me two options of 4.3 multi lang or enlish; i got the english one and it was 200mb. it's file name says 4.3 b023 but idk how to get a hold of b025 if indeed this is the issue. somewhat new to BB's but not in anyway new to pda's of palm/wm ect.

i didn't go page by page too many i did a search and nothing came up relevant so hopefully i am not repeating something already answered. thanks for any help.

Well I'm in the process of trying this on 4.5.0.52 and some things were a little different. I'm upgrading right now so I'll let you know how it goes.

Default HELP app loader error

John - I have followed your steps to install the BB os intall. pkg to my pc. When it goes to load the application loader it begins the process and then I get a "Unable to complete loading operation" Device Communication Error Encountered A:[0x00000022]. I don't know what the problem is. I have uninstalled the os and reinstalled it and still get this error. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Default more info for previous thread

Just to go along with my previous post - the error occurs when it gets to "connect to device ROM". If that helps any!

Sorry for another question...
I did the process on my 8310 and it went smoothly...Now since I have another 8310 that I use, do I have to download the OS again and do all the deletes or can all the work that I did just be transferred over? If it can, what do I have to do? I don't remember reading this question in any of the past 22 pages...I hope this makes sense? Thanks for all your help and guidance...

Simply uninstalling the OS and/or DM does not really remove it - lots of stuff still remains. Uninstall the program(s) and then manually delete any and all "Research In Motion" folders that remain.

Then reinstall and it should work.

John, I want to say thanks for a great guide. I've used it a couple of times.

I have a few questions. I just upgraded to 4.5.0.37 (the official version released by Vodafone Germany, not a beta) and I wasn't able to get BBMaps to show up. I deleted it, since I don't really use it that much, but I'd like to get it if I could. Do you know what's causing this? (The LBS.alx file didn't have any vendor IDs...)
Also, is it possible to delete MusicID and Streaming Music? I don't use them at all.

in the 4.5 OS the BBMaps is controlled via the carrier's service book I believe.

John I really want to Thank you so much for the really good job of explaning this whole process but most of all for making it so visual. It had to take a lot of time and effort on your part and for this I am deeply grateful.

No, when you connect your other 8310, it will check the software on it and you will do the exact same process as you did on the other one.

John Clark I would like to say thank you very much for the memory optimization post you have made. I have used it several times and it works great. It can even be used to optimize memory in the bulky 4.5 beta program as well. There are some renamed files though so everyone needs to be careful in what you remove in order for your device to work right. Thanks again and keep up all the excellent advice for all of us Blackberry Junkies out there!!!
