But seriously this topic has gone over and over on here.
GPS does NOT require a data plan, or even wireless service, to give you a longitude/latitude reading.
Your GPS software MAY require a data plan to retrieve the maps from a web server, depending on how it is set up.
YES it IS possible to get a GPS app that will work with no data plan, and simply stores the maps on your media card.
Some carriers require you to use their GPS application to get the GPS to work at all, and in these cases, you can NOT hack the device to make it work.
