Also what is the "last version" that your talking about? Aren't you suppose to download the latest version if you have a new phone? When I downloaded as OTA, I downloaded what it recommended then.

When you are in the BB Browser, go to options, browser configuration, emulation mode, then choose blackberry. There are several options, Microsoft IE seems to work best for general browsing. When downloading third party apps, especially OperaMini, you need the blackberry emulation option for the website to indentify your phone properly. Just follow the instructions at the download site and you should be fine.

I mostly use the BlackBerry Browser, but I also mostly use either mobile web sites (e.g. MSN mobile) or mobile web sites (e.g. Google Reader Mobile). For plain text I'm quite happy with it.

I do keep Opera Mini installed for some things where I need better display or JavaScript support, mostly for things like getting into router configuration pages (from the real world).

For what it's worth, I keep Opera Mini off the family phones for security reasons more than UI and rendering reasons.

I agree that both have their pros and cons. I have both and will mot likely, let's see the bolds browser, keep both on my BB's.

I was with my brother yesterday and god was I irked when he asked me to go look at a pair of sneakers online and my browser was just slow and below par. He snagged his treo out his car and brought it up in 7 seconds! My day was ruined! lol Thanks EDGE!

If you've loaded OS 4.5 on your device give the BB browser another shot. It's not earth-shattering but it does appear to render some sites better IMO.

However, again, if you're wondering about Opera Mini then just give it a shot. There's no reason not to. It's free. You can remove it if you don't like it or don't see the point. You don't rely on others to test drive cars for you when shopping for cars, right? Why would you do the same for a browser?

Opera Mini only gets the bits of a page it can render properly on your device. This makes it faster than BB's native browser and, depending on your price plan, cheaper.

But, as has been said many times in this thread, it's horses for courses. And the OM client is so small, there's nothing to be lost by trying both.

I personally like having Opera there.

I maximized space (should be done if you will add programs) and I don't have a space issue. I use Opera for 2 things:
1. FULL HTML BROWSING!!! Pics and everything
2. Second browser at a time, if you want to stay on a page (i.e. sports scores) and also browse, then you have a second window...

I tried Opera Mini on my WE 8830 through verizon. Works ok. But, when I never installed it on my Curve 8330 through Sprint cuz their browser is better than the normal BB browser.

You're right, i agree wholeheartedly about the 4.5 BB browser seeming a bit more capable of browsing semi decently. That much I'll say.

As for opera mini, I know some sites im at, i CANNOT type in a field is I use the Bb browser, so I need to keep opera on my phone for instances like that.

All in all, at this point, having 4.5 OS now- I'll take the BB browser (opera as needed)

A buddy of mine has the Opera Mini browser on his Curve and other than it displaying the whole web page @ once, I don't see a big difference that would make me change.

The BB browser with the 4.5 OS is just plain awesome.

I agree with the others that it is a matter of personal preference. I have tried both, but felt that Opera Mini didn't add anything that the Bb browser did, so I deleted it. Memory, you know...
