Default What do you use WiFi and GPS for?

Please Login to Remove!

I've got an 8100 and thus don't use either wifi or gps with my pearl.

How, exactly, do you guys take advantage of either wifi or gps in your phones and what benefits does it offer you?

Could you list off some examples?

Thanks in advance!

Way faster Web Browsing. The new web browser and speed actually make browsing a decent to good experience. It isn't totally noticeable at first, but after a few weeks, if you are forced to use EDGE you will really notice how much slower it is.

I also use my Pearl 8120 as a music player. In the gym for music or in the car for music and podcasts. Right now Imust plug in the phone and use iTunes to download Podcasts and manage music. Then I gotta manually move the stuff over. In a few months Viigo will release Project Tango that will allow the Phone to autosync Podcasts on WiFi so I don't have to, as well as support for with external content streamers like the SlingBox. WiFi also provides the hardware base for better VoIP intergration for corporate use.

Does using WiFi to browse the internet burn the battery down?

I am not near too many hotsopts, so not sure if it is worth while for me to upgrade to the 8120. I was thinking about going for the 8110. The 8110 is much cheaper too. I currently have a Pearl 8100 and love it. Had it since 12/06. Still works like a champ and I am in no rish to upgrade.

I don't have wifi on my 8130 and I don't use the GPS because I have a Magellan GPS for my car.

WiFi allows me to use my BB at home where I have no carrier coverage. GPS allows me to use TeleNav / google maps to navigate.

I use my 802.11g connection (wifi) on my phone to connect to TMo and use UMA to make / receive calls.

Thanks. I figured it was T Mobile. I don't think AT&T has that feature.
