Default Curve 8310 - Mass Storage Mode Problem

Please Login to Remove!

I recently replaced my trusty 8100 with a 8310. I used the mass storage mode quite frequently on the 8100, but the 8310 has problems.

I've made sure to enable Media Card Support and know the 8310 can see the media (can browse pictures and holds my ringtones.)

I've also enabled Mass Storage Mode.

When I attach the 8310 to my PC, I do not see the removable drive. I also do not see a password prompt don the device like I did when I attached the 8100 (which still works, btw.) Also, the Roxio media manager can't address the card either.

I've tried:
two different SD cards (1gb and 4gb) and formatted both from the blackberry itself
Tried all options in the media card setting on the BB

Any ideas?

Almost seems as though the computer is not recognizing the device. Does the computer make the sound it typically makes when a USB device is connected? Can you test it on a different computer?

I've tried it on a few different machines, all with the same result:

Vista x64 - nuthin
Vista x86 - nuthin
XP - nuthin

Not sure if I mentioned it previously, but even the Roxio Media Manager doesn't see it.

Right now, I have to remove the card, stick it in a PC and add/remove content. Really quite a pain.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Default 4gig card recognition

I have a similar problem with my 8320. I had to detach and reattach my device with media manager open, then all of a sudden it recognised it. I began accepting and loading pictures. It took only one picture though and it went to memory. I have a 4Gig card and storage says I have 2 gig left but it seems to be limiting my picture use. Anyone know what that problem is?

thanks

I had the same problem this morning, here is my resolution:

Plug in the Curve via USB
Double-Click on the "Safely Remove Hardware Icon" in the System Tray
Click on (select) RIM BlackBerry SD USB Device, then click Properties
Click on the Volumes Tab, then click on Populate

The window populated showing Drive G: However, I have a network drive already assigned to Drive G (strange that it would try to assign)...

Anyways... I disconnected the Network Drive G, disconnected my Curve, reconnected, and it successfully assigned Drive G to my Curve's SD Card.

Maybe you're having a similar problem - dunno.. just thought I'd share.

I am a new forum user and fairly new to blackberry curve. I bought a BB Curve 8310 off of ebay and it did not come with cd installation disk...however, I have read many threads that say that my pc should recognize my micro sd without any software installation. I have made sure that the media card support, mass storage mode support and enable mass storage mode when connected are set to : on, on and Yes. My BB recognizes the micro SD card but when connected to PC, no drive letter shows up. I have also checked in disk management but nothing there but the c: drive...any suggestions?
