Honestly, do you think the Pearl is any better? You may get MMS, but still no real GPS. Personally I'm waiting until the 8330 comes out with disabled wifi. That should rock the house.

GPS is honestly of no real concern to me. MMS, loud ringers, and at least half assed GPS is good enough.

If I wanted full GPS, I'd have a BT puck...

I upped my ringtone volume over 285% but honestly it's not something a person should have to do after buying a phone.

Hey Dawg, I' just wondering.... On that Brooke Sheilds quote... did she misspell you're as well or was that just you? :P

I think the loudest ringtone available on the 8830 is Calypso, but I hate that one.

Generally speaking the ringtones that come with the phone are pretty hearable (is that even a word). However, once you setup an MP3 as a ringtone, it tends to get a little soft. I think that's the part that RIM and VZW still haven't figured out to check. I've reexplained it to them many times on the phone (RIM that is).

Yeah, I used wavepad as explained in other threads on this forum. I'm just a little disappointed in RIM for allowing VZW to railroad them into screwing up their phones. Also, shame on verizon for not sending MMS service books. BOO! Oh well... pearl ordered... problem solved...

The ringtones arent messed with by VZW they are installed by RIM who designed the device as a businees device. That said who wants loud obnoxious ringtones going off in their offices.

My company has a policy that once you enter the building your phone must be set to vibrate or turned off.

Actually according to RIM the ringtones that you put on the phone are supposed to be just as loud as calypso. This is a RIM error, but I blame it on VZW because they always make the manufacturers screw the phones up so bad it's a wonder anything works on them.

what ever if you dont like them go else where my device works perfectly. The ringtones are a common BB problem not a verizon one you need to look else where to place your hatred

I'm not hating, just being sarcastic. Calm down dude. I actually don't mind, because I have the ringtone problem solved. I upped the volume, problem solved.

It's not a big deal. Just makes me a little disappointed in RIM that it got screwed up.

My question is this: Why does it seem that this is the only phone to have the volume problems. I've owned every t-mobile BB since the 7780, and I've had the 8830 on verizon. Out of them all the 8830 is the only one with the volume issues, and no MMS. It's just kind of disappointing, hopefully the pearl will reaffirm my faith in BB. Or maybe the new software update for the 8830, who knows...

I have owned about 7 different BBs through the years and the volume of the ringtones has always been an issue

Just so you guys know how much BS Verizon is giving all of us! Check it out. Enabling / disabling the device firewall - BlackBerry 8830

But of course it wont work because they have us all locked out from being able to disable the feature.

What are you talking about this has nothing to do with the firewall you've posted this same exact response in another thread and it didn't make sense there either

I was simply saying that according to Verizon's web site for support they claim that the solution to receiving mms messages is to disable the fire wall. Next time check the link... I was just offering information.

cheers
