What other differences have you noticed besides dropping WiFi signals?

I noticed the upate was only for Asia's Singapore Telecom based Blackberries. Meaning it was not released on the US Blackberry website.

Kind of confused, cause why would it be release in singapore's blackberry webpage but not here in the US?

I just want to make sure before I do this update.

Wirelessly posted (8820: BlackBerry8820/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102 UP.Browser/5.0.3.3 UP.Link/5.1.2.1)

Hi there. I have an 8820, and I'm getting tired of seeing every other smartphone with better features than my bb. From what I hear, os 4.5 will drastically improve bb features. Does anyone know when the next software update for the 8820 will be?

This was awesome! Thanks! I upgraded my BB from 4.2.2.169 to 4.2.2.184...took about 30 min. Not much difference seen...except the new one is a little slower.

Dumb question, but wanted to ask it just in case. I have a Verizon 8830 it doesn't have WI-FI correct? I guess that's only for the French/European 8800 series right?

thanks!

The latest one is slower, but I suggest you do get it. Hey, who knows what improvememts they've made inside.

Call me old fashioned, but remember the old saying, "If it isn't broken, don't fix it." Don't get me wrong, I LOVE updates--but I like when the effects of an update are visibly positive. I'm a little confused by the general consensus here.

The latest update is slower--but, use it anyway.

I agree that there might be improvements, but I sure would like to be convinced they are really there. I know what the response to this type of comment will be, but my BlackBerry works fine for me now with 4.2.2.169. I would love to grab the latest version and try it, but if the only visible effect is "it is slower" and there are no hard and fast improvements, why update?

Sorry, but that's the kind of mindset that tends to bring upon problems. For instance, Microsoft "updates"...

Has anyone noticed any new features or improvements with the latest update? Did RIM release any info as to what the latest update fixed or added from the previous versions?

I feel the new one has a better Windows-Blackberry interface - but I may be wrong. I noticed the synchronization process is a lot faster, smoother, and has more options. They also made the auto on/off function a bit "cooler."

I've put in .175 and will wait for 4.3 (or 4.5 or whatever they plan to release it as)... seems like a pain to update OS as I now need to bother my IT dept everytime I do so (or so I believe)...

So much easier with WM6. I can play however much I want without anyone knowing.

Just updated myself, no problems to speak of. Seeing as how my device is only 5 days old, it went fairly fast as I haven't added much to it.

After the update all my settings were still there, very convenient. I assumed I'd have to reset/re-enter almost everything.

Both OSs for the 8320 and 8820 are very similar, no noticeable difference.

ALL releases have English in them.
