Default Vibrate Shortcut Key

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

over the past weekend i upgraded my blackberry (7100 to 8310). the question i'm about to ask is probably beaten to death by now. i was wondering if there is a key that i can hold down and the unit goes to vibrate all.

i know that the 7100 you can press and hold down the * key and the blackberry goes to vibrate/silent.

is there such a feature with the 8310? i am just trying to avoid the convenience key since i already assigned a feature to it.

i already "googled" searched and searched some more but i didnt come up with anything.

any input will be great!
thank you

I don't think the Curves have this feature. If you disable the Home Screen Dialing you can press the 'F' key to get a list of the active profiles, then switch it quickly to vibrate.

No quick change like on a Suretype device. QWERTY devices don't have that.

If you use the Dimension Zen theme then you can see the "profiles" icon (the icon that looks like a speaker) on the home screen just below the word "EDGE".

If you roll the scroll-wheel to the right (or up and then to the right) it should go and highlight the "profiles" icon. If you click the scroll wheel then you should be able to adjust the profile to vibrate or whatever.

It isn't as easy as holding down the "*" key but it is pretty good.

I should mention that this does NOT work with the new Dimension "L" theme.

Hope that helps.

Try setting up a customized profile using vibrate. Then go in to options and screen/keyboard and you should be able to change one of the convenience keys to that profile.

Phone App (press SEND on the Home Screen) -> Options -> General Options -> Set "Dial From Home Screen" to NO

This will also allow you to access most of the apps with 1 keypress (L=calendar, M=messages, T=tasks, D=memopad, A=addressbook, etc). Check the help file installed for more shortcuts. After a day or 2, it becomes second nature to use it. Definitely allowed me to place 5 different apps on my T-Mobile Zen theme without all the clutter.
