This is my first theme that I have ever made. I spent around 7 hours tweaking it by trial and error.

No kidding! I just opened this thread because the title said FREE. Inside he wants $6. His post even makes it sound like a "hodge podge" and will probably have mystery problems typical of an amateur freebie theme. I would warn anyone to be careful spending money on this.

Well i've fixed the "free" in the thread title part. That was quite misleading.

Let me think about that for a second, hummmmmmmmmm nope.
How can you create a thread with a title "my new theme (iphone style/free) and then charge $6.00, I just don't get it. I've made themes every now and then and never charged for them.
Why don't we start a list of members who like to charge for themes and charge them for answers when they ask questions.

Who cares if it's $6.00? If you don't want to pay for it, don't!

The point is that when he started this thread, the original title said: my new theme (iphone style/free) and then in his first post he's asking for $6.00.

no, third party programs have their own icons and there is nothing you can do about it...that's why i never use, and never create, a theme with custom icons...
i just wish everyone would stop trying to make their BBs look like iphones...if i wanted an iphone, i'd get one....looks good though...

When I saw it the first time (shortly after the thread was started) all he asked was to email him for the theme. There was no mention of $$. Obviously he changed his mind and just didn't change the title.
Regardless, if that's what you meant when you attacked everyone who charges for themes, then perhaps you should have said that it was just those who later decide to sell.

Sorry guys, after putting a lot of time into this theme, I decided I would try to sell it. It's my first theme and I haven't ran into problems. Battery/signal meters all show correctly, doesn't run slow either.
and a hodgepodge? It was my first theme but I am very familiar with doing things like this, just not familiar with the program so by tweaking I meant moving things around, for instance the sdk doesn't show a wifi symbol, so I had a few things over the wifi signal etc etc, just problems like that, that I had to fix by trial and error.
and about wanting to make it look like an iphone.. it's not really that.. it's just the icons make sense and are clean and i'm really like clean ui's.
Anyways, I thought I edited the title last night but apparently not, was up till 3 am.

Can I use the icons on an L theme?
I have the L theme on my BB 8100, can I use these icons on my particular theme or not? I would be nice to have the icons on my L theme. Please let me know. Nice job by the way! Thank you.

Tbere's nothing wrong at all with charging for your work. Most of us do that every day in some form or fashion.

Its not that I want my phone to look like an Iphone. I want my UI to look similar to Apple's because it's incredibly smooth. If I could find another theme that had such a smooth interface, I'd switch to that instead. I just happen to dig the rounded square look of the icons. To me it looks professional.

I totally agree. One day, perhaps I might build an app for BlackBerry that others on this forum would find incredibly helpful and would be willing to pay me for. I do regularly ask questions because it's helpful to have friends that can accelerate your search for an answer. Almost always though I'm able to help others free of charge. My time is also valuable and charged to my customers hourly.
To others who might still disagree with helping someone who charges for a theme or product, I say: If you don't want to help the guy, don't. If you have a few minutes to spare for someone who could be of assistance to you in the future, then go ahead and take the 30 seconds to type out a response. Heck, I bet he would have given you a copy of the theme free if you had the proper answer he was looking for.
To the OP - please accept my apologies over the post earlier. Quite apparently the way your original post came across was confusing a number of us combined with the fact that you're a fairly new member (very few posts) to the forums didn't sit so well with us. If you had removed the FREE from the title, then almost all of this probably would have been avoided. I'm sure you would agree that it's probably best to make your posts after being well rested in the future.

My bad, when I first saw the thread it said free, then I saw he was asking for $6.00, he posted earlier today that he forgot to change the title.
Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with charging $$ for a theme, it's just the fact of offering it for free and then charging for it. But it was a misunderstanding on my part.
Thanks
