Okay, well that helps a bit. I didn't mention this, but I understood about the password protection.
My confusion stemmed from my assumption that folks were locking their keyboards without invoking the password protection. I really can't see a reason for this so I didn't really see a reason for this nice little bit of software.
Like yourself, I don't bother with the keyboard lock or the password protection. I have just been using the standby function when needed. The only catch to this is that my BB does double duty as an iPod wannabe and I transmit music to my Bluetooth headphones when I'm cycling or working out. Since the standby switch is also the mute switch it can be tough to put my BB on standby and not mute the music.

That 8gb MicroSDHC card can hold a LOT of music. My Curve has taken the place of my iPod for daily use.
